Message from the Director
Emma Hatton:

The April edition of the newsletter seems to have come around very quickly! We hope you had a relaxing Easter break - this is such a busy term for all phases!

In TSH, we are spending lots of time planning for next year now.
There are opportunities for you and colleagues in all phases to become involved in all of our workstreams and TSH colleagues have detailed these below.

We have been quality assuring programmes this term, and have begun some very interesting work around the collation of case studies - we are really interested to find out more about how our programmes are impacting on classroom and leadership practices. We hope to be able to share these case studies with you in a forthcoming newsletter.

We are proud and humbled to work with so many of you, as it is important to us that Teaching School Hub belongs to all of you. Phase one of our evolution has been about distributing activities. This has been very successful, due to the generosity of so many of you in lending your time and expertise to facilitate, to mentor and to quality assure. As a result, engagement is high - over 50% of schools in the Hub area are working with us already, and the experiences of participants is overwhelmingly positive.

Next, we are beginning to plan distributing the leadership of Teaching School Hub work. We know that this kind of distribution is key to sustaining the good work, and the great impact. We are working closely with our strategic partners to plan this, and know that this will create further opportunities for many. Please do get in touch if you are interested to find out more about this layer of our work: ehatton@solihull.tgacademy.org.uk

Best wishes,
Emma

 Early Career Framework
Emily Stallard

We have had a busy but exciting start to the summer term for ECF. The majority of our events have now taken place and we have welcomed our April 2023 cohort of ECTs and Mentors. There are some events taking place throughout May and June for the smaller cohorts as well as some rescheduled events, both face-to-face and online, which were unfortunately cancelled. Please see our website for full information regarding these upcoming events. The events have been such a wonderful way to celebrate the successes of our ECTs and Mentors as they approach the end of another year, we feel very lucky to be able to work with so many professionals.

We are also looking to gather feedback and do some case study work as the first ever ECT cohort comes to an end. We would love to work with you to ensure that the programme continues to be a success in the future - please do get in touch to provide feedback or to work with us as a case study.

We are still looking to finalise event plans for the Autumn term and delighted that our team of expert facilitators is growing! If you would still like to join the Teaching School Hub ECF facilitator team, please get in touch with us by sending in an expression of interest form. This would be a fantastic opportunity for experienced staff to network with other colleagues across their region and provide them with valuable training experience for their own CPD as well as have a positive impact on the careers of our ECTs and Mentors.

As always, thank you everyone for your enthusiasm and support with our ECF programme.

Emily

Assessments
The assessment window for the spring term has now passed. Thank you to everybody who has submitted progress reviews and formal assessments. You will have been notified if you still have anything overdue - please submit these as soon as possible.
If you have extenuating circumstances regarding spring term ECT assessments, please get in touch with a member of the team.

We are now entering the final assessment period of the year which, for most ECTs, will conclude with their formal assessments. Please be aware that ECT Manager's strict security protocols have been known to log users out if they take more than 15 minutes to fill in the form! We recommend downloading a blank form and having the answers written in a word document to copy and paste in when filling in the assessment form online.
The submission window for all assessments is Friday 9th June-Friday 30th June.

Registering ECTs
We are continuing to onboard ECTs for the summer term now - please follow the instructions on our website for how to sign up to our AB services.
The deadline for registering ECTs for the summer term is Friday 19th May.

Support Sessions

After a great uptake, we are continuing to host online events to further support schools which including drop-in clinics, sessions on completing formal assessments and best practice networks for induction tutors.

Case Studies
Many thanks to Stratford on Avon School, who have been working with us to put together some case studies, which will help us to understand more about the longer-term benefits of the NPQs.
Initial indicators are that there are a great deal of positive impacts on professional practice in the classroom, and for leaders. Both participants and facilitators have reflected that they have had opportunities to develop, through their involvement. One of the most pleasing things emerging from the case studies is how invaluable participants are finding working with colleagues from other settings - it's great to see the local professional network developing.
We hope to develop more case studies for you to see the impact longitudinally.

Autumn Term 2023
We are hoping to offer the full suite of NPQs in the Autumn term. We hope this advance notice is useful to you, as you start thinking about the appraisal cycle. We will be hosting information events shortly, and will send more details soon.

Facilitation and Hosting an Event
We are committed to ensuring representation across the different regions and setting we serve as a Teaching School Hub. If you or a colleague are interested in joining our facilitation team or hosting an event at your school, you can find out more on our website.
