November 2022

Message from the Director:

We have had another exciting and busy month at Tudor Grange Teaching School Hub.  We are delighted with the new NPQ cohorts that have begun in earnest, and with those who have completed and been assessed for the first time.  We are also proud to tell you that we have chosen to partner with Teach First for their new one year SCITT pilot course from September 23, as we seek to increase the scalability of our ITT offer.  Finally, we are working hard with our partner curriculum hubs to establish regional subject network meetings, along with national subject associations, to support subject specific knowledge and pedagogy in our schools.  We are constantly reminded through the professional conversations that feeling connected is more important than ever for teachers and school leaders; this is a key aim for us. Thank you for your ongoing partnership with us in this.  We are always keen to develop our offer - please do get in touch.  We want to make sure all of the schools in our region benefit from the professional opportunities the TSH offers; we are particularly keen that they are involved in the facilitation of our programmes and hosting of our trainees.

 Early Career Framework

We have had the opportunity to reflect on a busy term. Since the start of the term in September, we have had a new cohort of 330 ECTs and mentors. This is in addition to our existing numbers from last year, almost doubling our provision. We have run twenty face to face ECF events supporting over 500 ECTs and mentors across our four cohorts, including our first face to face regional training session. We have been thrilled with the uptake for these sessions and have had excellent feedback with over 97% of attendees being happy with the training they have received.

 Appropriate Body

We have been busy onboarding the new September cohort ECTs, and ensuring that all ECTs are registered on our appropriate body system ECT Manager. The end of term assessments are due on the 9th December, and can only be accessed through ECT Manager.
Information about how to register your ECTs for our appropriate body services can be found on our website.

  National Professional Qualifications

We are recruiting for our Feb 23 NPQs now, so please make sure your school, MAT or region has signed up.  We are running the leadership qualifications: NPQH, NPQSL, and NPQEYL in February, all based in Solihull.  Find out more here.

We are running the full suite of NPQs again in October 23, and we want to emphasise that they are government-funded only until 2024 at the moment, so please sign up while you can!

The deadline for Feb 23 cohorts is Jan 10th, but please sign up before Christmas to avoid missing out.  Sign up here and select 'TDT' as the lead provider, and 'Tudor Grange' as the delivery partner.

 Initial Teacher Training

Figures from the DfE have recently been published showing current recruitment into teacher training - you can view these here

As a Teaching School Hub, we are passionate about supporting the region to make sure we have enough high-quality teachers to meet the long-term needs of the sector and make a difference for the children in our schools. We are really keen to hear any thoughts you have about how we could support your involvement in initial teacher training - please get in touch with us here.

If you know anybody who like to find out more about getting into teaching, we are hosting an online information event with Steve Dixon, our Director of Initial Teacher Training, on Thursday 8th December between 4.30pm and 5.30pm. Registration for this event is available via this link.
